 What:

Messerschmitt Bf-109G-2 Trop Werk N.142560

Where:

Museu Asas de um Sonho (Wings of a Dream Museum) at São Carlos, Brazil.

When:

June 2nd, 2007 / November 27, 2010.

Here is a walkaround of the only Bf-109 in South America, as far as I know. It is a G-2/Trop owned by the "Museu Asas de um Sonho" (Wings of a Dream Museum)
, located in São Carlos, Brazil, where it is currently on display. I don't know much about this particular airframe. Its werk nummer is 142560, and I was told it was removed from a lake in Norway and restored in non-flyable condition.

This 109 has the landing gear well cover open to show bullet marks received during its last combat mission. Experts on the subject reported that many parts used in this aircraft are not correct for a G-2 version, which is understandable. Even so, it is a valuable part of the museum, and a priceless source of detail for modelers and aviation fans.

I had the opportunity to photograph this warbird on two occasions, in 2007 and 2010. In the later one, it was moved to a diorama-type display, then still under construction.
